Placing blame

M was telling me yesterday about the death of N’s grandchild.

“Budak tu kene buat orang. Orang buat maknya masa dia mengandung dah tu sampai ke anaknya bila anak tu keluar.”

“Mula-mula baby tu kene apnea. Mereka bawa ke hospital. Hospital check semua kata takde apa-apa, mereka bawa baby tu balik.”

“Lepas 3 hari baby tu meninggal.”

In this instance I feel that its a predetermined thing. Isn’t life and death predetermined by our creator? To blame it on the evil doing of another human being especially if there isn’t any concrete proof?

I am also a firm believer that if Allah does not allow it, it won’t happen. Surely He is the Allmighty and to suggest that another human being has a more superior power over him blasphemous?

But I seldom say these things out. I just let the story flow, nod and take a sip of my tea. I’m not an overly pious person. I just feel that its often way too easy to place blame when we’re experiencing grief. Its not that I deny the existence and the power of witchcraft. Its just that I believe in qadaq and qadar.

Jodoh, maut and rezeki semuanya Allah yang tentukan.

Assalamualaikum Avid Traveller:

I do agree 100% with you. Somehow we malay/muslim tends to find a scapegoat when experiencing grief. Malays mostly love to blame it on 'kuasa sihir'/kena buat' even without any concrete evidence. It is always best to remind ourselves that 'Tiada Usaha memberi Bekas(kesan)... usaha & ikhtiar tidak boleh meninggalkan kesan kecuali dgn kehendak & kuasa Allah swt'... in most of 'kitab kuning' it is clearly mentioned that whoever believe that 'usaha memberi bekas', maka tiada syaknya lagi kufur akan seseorang itu'... everything is DECIDED, SET & DONE by Allah swt (but it doesnt mean that we must leave everything to Allah without 'ikhtiar'. But somehow we always tend to think it is he/she, they, it or us NOT Allah that decide and make things happen...Wallahua'lam.

In this situation, I say my 2 kalimah syahadah, blow ayat kursi in that person's face and slowly sip my tea :-)

you know when people see certain bomoh..there is alays this thing that the bomoh said..oh someone quite close to you are no happy with you. It's this certain person's doing. SOmetimes I think it is escapism gak. To placea blame on someone that you think would have something against you is just so easy

Dear Sun Flora ....

My second daughter is a Down Sindrome baby .... and macam macam orang told me about my baby , my wife and even me ....

Kalau nak cite panjang lak .... story yg Tenah mintak pun belum buat lagi

Bottom line is ... manusia senantiasa perlukan alasan ... walaupun kekadang alasa itu boleh menyebabkan rosaknya aqidah ....

i think sometimes people just don't want to think of Allah as 'cruel' (eventhough whether something is cruel or not is subjective), therefore they put the blame on humans, who can be cruel.
You just need to point out that things happen by His will, and it all happens for a reason. Everything, no matter how devastating and cruel, ada hikmah nya.. we might not see it today, we might not even see it in this life, even. Sekarang N's grandaughter is in heaven praying for his/her parents...

p/s i rindu kat kuih bakar you lah.. tee hee
